  The Power of Synchronicity (in: Resource Page)
Lately, I have been thinking a lot about the power of synchronicity and selling. About a week ago, I was at a local restaurant with my editor, Amanda, and we were working on Selling with Intention. As we passed the book back and forth, I could feel someone watching us. Thirty minutes later, the gentleman approached our table and asked about the book.

"Selling with Intention" he said, "that's a catchy title."

We proceeded to have a conversation and I told him about the book and that we were editing it one more time to prepare for distribution into bookstores with our new publisher. He then asked me where he could get a copy and explained that he was a Regional Sales Director and had a team of sales people that would have interest in the book.

What? Wow! Yes, in the middle of the day it was amazing how he had just "shown up" as if by magic. But was it really magic, or was it something more?
  My Top 5 Time Management Tips (in: Resource Page)
One of the questions I am frequently asked is, “How do you get it all done?” Time management was not always one of my strengths, but over the years I have developed my time management muscle and you can do the same thing by applying the tips I am about to share!

But before I do that, I want you to take a quick assessment of yourself. How is a lack of time management negatively impacting your business? How is it holding you back? Write down your answers. What would your business and your life be like if you completed everything you wanted to complete every day?

My guess it is would be really different! Although time management feels like work, it is really the KEY to having more Freedom in your business. Christine Kloser, my former coach and author of The Freedom Formula, helped me understand that better time management would give me the time I desired to have the business of my dreams. And she was right!

My days don’t always go as planned, but by following the tips below, I am able to get my “to do’s” done so I can get to the things I love to do! And, I am able to sell MORE so I can live the life that I choose.
  How to Take the Fear Out of Selling (in: Resource Page)
A few weeks ago, I was talking with a colleague and the subject of selling came up. Specifically, she mentioned her fear of picking up the phone to make warm calls, let alone cold calls. As she was describing this, I could see the pain on her face and I was reminded how difficult selling can be for so many entrepreneurs and sales professionals. And I can definitely relate, because there are days when those old fears pop up for me, too.

It breaks my heart when people share their stories regarding how fear stops them from selling what they want. The reason it bothers me so much is because when fear stops someone from selling their product or service, they are actually denying someone else the right to say yes to purchasing from them. The real problem with this is that we make selling about US, the entrepreneur or sales professional, when it really is about THEM—your prospect.
  5 Steps to Turn a Warm Contact into a Closed Sale (in: Resource Page)
Think of the last time you attended a networking event. What happened? Did you go home with your appointment book overflowing with appointments, or with a pile of new cards in your pocket? Most people leave a networking event with a pile of cards rather than appointments set for the upcoming weeks. There are some simple steps you can take to turn warm contacts into closed sales.

Before I share those steps with you, I’d like to share some thoughts on what not to do at a networking event. First, remember that you are not selling. Instead, you are making new connections to determine whether or not you can help them. Second, don’t just hand your card to everyone you meet and take theirs. Instead, have a meaningful conversation first and then decide whether or not to take it further.

The following steps will help you move from a warm connection at a networking event to a closed sale:
  Does Cold Calling Still Work? (in: Resource Page)
Last week I was at Starbucks, working away, when I stopped for a moment to check my voice-mail.

I was intrigued by one of the voice-mails and I had to listen to it twice to be sure what I was hearing.

It was a cold call!

A woman that I did not know had left me a message. And her message was so professional and intentional that I called her back.

Are you surprised? Think back, I bet you have called someone back you didn’t know who left you a voice-mail from a cold call.

It is unfortunate that cold calls get such a bad rap these days. The telephone can be an incredibly fast way to connect with people that you could potentially do business with that you don’t yet know. And yet, many people let fear and limiting beliefs stop them from picking up the phone.

  How Many Sales do You REALLY Need to Reach Your Stretch Goal? (in: Resource Page)
If I asked you the following question, what would your answer be? “How many sales do you need to reach your stretch goal?”

Unfortunately, most people cannot answer that question in one word. Usually, it’s a few sentences about how much they think it would be.

One of the greatest challenges Entrepreneurs and Sales Professional face is a lack of clarity regarding their sales numbers. I don’t think there is anything more critical than setting a stretch goal, and then doing the work to actually figure out what it would take you to get there. In Selling with Intention, I refer to that as the “Gap Analysis”.

Eleanor Roosevelt once said, “You must do that thing you think you cannot do.” I share that quote in my speeches, training and in my books because I happen to agree with Ms. Roosevelt! Whenever you are afraid of doing something, or resisting doing something, that is often then thing you need to do next to move your business or sales forward.

Easy to say, not always easy to do!

In the Sales Coach Now Quantum Leap groups that I facilitate, we talk about this topic every time we get together. In the Mastermind Group, Entrepreneurs and Sales Professionals are focused on taking a leap from where they are in their business to “the next level”—whatever that might be for them. In order to do that, they often need to take a look at what they are resisting doing, being or having in their business. Once they understand what that is, they can decide that they want to make a change and then the next steps will usually show up. However, if they never make the decision to change, they will often remain stuck.
  The 3 Things You Aren’t Doing that Could Increase Your Sales (in: Resource Page)
Do you ever feel like you are doing everything possible to increase your sales, but they just aren’t going up? I hear this frequently from clients and I want you to consider that it might not be what you are doing, but rather what you are not doing, that is stopping you.

I’ve been teaching and coaching Sales Professionals and Entrepreneurs for many years. During that time, I have heard every excuse in the book related to the lack of sales growth in someone’s business. I am just being honest, I sometimes get stuck in excuses as well and they can be paralzying.

Upon analysis of their sales efforts, there are usually three key things that stand out related to their inability to reach their goals. And I am going to share them with you in a minute.

Before I do that, though, I want you to clear your mind and open it up to possibilities because when I share these ideas with you, your ego is going to want to protect you.

When your ego gets in the way, trying to keep you safe from hearing the truth, you will say things like, “Right, I know that already and that’s not me.” Instead, I want you to just consider if even one of these ideas is showing up somewhere in your life.
  Why Traditional Selling Still Works (in: Resource Page)
The internet is a great sales tool. Believe me, it is an essential key in my own business and you wouldn’t be reading this article without the power of an ezine company. However, in the age of technology, it seems like many people have forgotten about the power of traditional selling. The power of the telephone. The power of a face to face meeting.

Traditional selling works. I define traditional selling as picking up the telephone, scheduling a face to face meeting and getting off the phone. Remember, your goal isn’t to sell over the phone, simply to get the appointment. Once you are sitting face to face with a client, THEN you can help them determine whether or not your products or services can help them. Until you are sitting down with them, it’s difficult to know, and the sales process will drag on!

When I first started my sales career, my goal was to make 100 calls per day. Back then we focused on quantity, not quality, but I got REALLY good at picking up the phone and scheduling meetings. In my experience as a Sales Coach, I find that people don’t want to pick up the phone these days. They would rather shoot off a quick email and see what happens.

But then they wait. And hope. And wait. And hope. And wait.

Meanwhile, your prospect is wondering why you haven’t called them. I’m not kidding!

I believe there are three main reasons that traditional selling still works:

The phone is a fast and easy way to reach people!
Think about it. You can literally pick up your telephone at any given moment, type in a number and have someone answer at the other end. How long does it take? Seconds!

How many people could you call in just thirty minutes? ? A lot! I promise your sales would go up with just thirty minutes of solid calling every day.
